
Kansas City Drops Contest at South Dakota State

The Roos shot 32.8% from the field, compared to SDSU's 56.6% clip
BROOKINGS, S.D. - A quick start by Kansas City Men's Basketball (11-19, 7-10 Summit) did not hold across 40 minutes as the Roos fell to South Dakota State (18-11, 13-4 Summit), 73-50. The Roos were outscored by 22 points in the paint, as the Jackrabbits shot at a 63% clip from the field in the second half.
Kansas City made three of its first four shots from the field to start the game off, but went cold from the field as SDSU built up an 11-point halftime lead. Kansas City cut the lead down to single digits early in the second half, but a South Dakota State run put the game out of reach.
RayQuawndis Mitchell led Kansas City with 13 points and Tyler Andrews joined him in double digits with 10. Andrews and Jevin Sullivan contributed major minutes off the bench, each playing over 20 minutes.
KEY MOMENTS
- 1H - 16:43 / 10-2 | Mitchell hit a pair of three-pointers, and a bunny by Jeff Ngandu gave the Roos an eight-point lead, their largest of the game. The Jackrabbits responded by scoring the next 10 points across a three-minute stretch to take the lead.
