Woods Homers in Game Two of Doubleheader with UST

The Tommies took both games to start the series
ST. PAUL - Kansas City Softball (5-36, 1-13 Summit) dropped a pair of games to St. Thomas (30-16, 11-3 Summit) to start the weekend series with the Tommies this afternoon. Game one went the direction of St. Thomas in an 11-3 decision that saw Lauren Parker go 2-of-2 from the plate and the second game was a 10-2 final highlighted by a Briona Woods home run.
GAME ONE KEY MOMENTS
Top 2 / 3-6 | Kansas City got three runs back after an explosive first inning from the Tommies, sparked by a two out rally. Grace Batdorf, Elleana Navarro and Parker laded the bases up and a Gianna Lickel infield single scored two. Sabrina Rogers stepped up for another RBI single to give KC its third run.
Bottom 3 / 3-6 | Hannah Burks worked around a leadoff double with a strikeout and a pair of ground outs to get out of the third inning with no damage.
GAME TWO KEY MOMENTS
Top 1 / 1-0 | Woods drove a ball beyond the left field fence for her second home run of the season, giving the Roos an early lead.
Top 2 / 2-2 | Kansas City strung together another two-out rally to tie the game up. Leilani Bustamante singled and stole second, moving to third on a fielder's choice by Parker. Lickel drove her in with a single one batter later.
Bottom 3 / 2-2 | Riley Bebb got through the third in 1-2-3 fashion, battling through a seven-pitch at bat to get a leadoff fly out and working through the next two batters in just five pitches.
