Briona Woods finished the day with three total hits
VERMILLION, S.D. - Kansas City Softball (5-41, 1-16 Summit) opened the final series of the regular season with a pair of losses at South Dakota today, falling 7-3 in game one and 8-0 in game two. Briona Woods was 2-of-3 with an RBI in the first game and notched Kansas City's only hit of game two.Â

- Bottom 1 / 0-0 | Elleana Navarro logged two putouts as Hannah Burks pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the first inning.
- Top 4 / 1-0 | Katie Noble logged a one-out single to give KC a base runner, bringing in Ava Martinez to run the bases. A sacrifice bunt moved Martinez over to second and she took third on a passed ball. Woods tallied an RBI with her second infield hit of the day, giving the Roos a lead.
- Top 7 / 3-7 | The Roos started to rally with three-straight singles from Derika Castillo, Sabrina Rogers and Lauren Parker. Gianna Lickel brought in the first run on a ground out and Katelyn Maciel scored another on a single to center. KC continued to rally but it fell just short to end game one.
GAME TWO KEY MOMENTS
- Top 2 / 0-4 | Briona Woods singled to left-center for Kansas City's lone hit of the second game.
- Bottom 4 / 0-7 | After a leadoff error, the Roos connected for a 5-4-3 double play and allowed Riley Bebb to pitch her way out of the fourth with no further damage.
