
Men's Basketball Rebuilds for 2025-26 Roster

The Roos will add 13 new student-athletes, 12 of which are transfer additions
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Men's Basketball and Head Coach Marvin Menzies have begun to build a new-look roster for the 2025-26 season, officially announcing the signing of 13 student-athletes. Twelve of the 13 incomers are transfer students, with six spending the 2024-25 season at the junior college level and six transferring directly from another Division I team. The group of 13 joins returners Jayson Petty and Kasheem Grady II on the 2025-26 roster.
The top-rated junior college recruit in California, Trey Booker-Lowery, will bring his skills to the floor next year in KC. After averaging 14.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in his first season at Lemoore College, Booker-Lowery elevated his game last season. He went for 23.8 points per game, shooting 53.9% from the field, adding 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. He was named First Team All-Central Valley Conference and earned his status as the No. 1 JUCO recruit in California and the No. 38 recruit nationally according to JUCORecruiting.com.Â
After averaging over 10 points per game as a freshman, Karmello Branch had a breakout sophomore campaign at Santa Fe College, pouring in 21.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game en route to All-FCSAA and First Team All-Citrus Conference honors. He led the FCSAA in scoring, reaching double figures in 30-of-32 games with 20 performances of 20-plus points and earning four FCSAA Player of the Week awards.
Kernan Bundy returns home as a Roo after spending last season at Iona, where he averaged 15.1 minutes per game. A strong three-point shooter, he was 16-of-42 on the season, good for a 38.1% clip. Bundy spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Hutchinson Community College, averaging 10.5 points per game on 52.1% shooting and aiding the team to a NJCAA Division I Quarterfinal appearance in his sophomore season.
Jamaria Clark spent his sophomore season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M following a freshman campaign at Lee College in which he appeared in 29 games, aiding the Navigators to a 28-5 record and a 17-2 mark in conference play. He was honored as a First Team All-Region II performer this past season, averaging 12.4 points and 3.7 assists per game.
Cory Curtis Jr. spent his junior season at Long Beach State, where he appeared in six games. Prior to his time with the Beach, he was a standout performer at Independence Community College, ranking eighth in the NJCAA with a 23.2 point per game scoring average and going for 30-plus points in five games. Curtis Jr. spent his freshman year at Panola College, aiding the team to an NJCAA Region XIV Tournament finals appearance.
Following a freshman season at Weber State that saw him appear in 11 games, Chris Dockery spent his sophomore year at Independence Community College, averaging 16.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Pirates. He scored in double-digits in 25 times, going for 20-plus in 10 games and logging five double-doubles on the year. He was top 10 in the KJCCC in points and rebounds per game, earning second team all-conference honors.
CJ Evans comes to Kansas City by way of Ranger College, where he started in 28 out of 28 appearances and led the Rangers with averages of 14.8 points and 7.8 assists per game. Evans led the nation in assists per game, earning First Team All-Region 5 and All-NTJCAC honors. He played at Weatherford College for his freshman campaign, going for 10.5 points, 4.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds per night.
Harrison will join the ranks of Roos hailing from Arizona, joining Kansas City from Perry High School in Gilbert, Ariz. The 6'5 forward will be a freshman next season and is a consensus three-start recruit according to On3, 247Sports and ESPN's recruiting services. ESPN has him as the seventh-ranked recruit in the state of Arizona this season. Harrison helped guide Perry to four-straight state championships and back-to-back Open Division State Championships, a first in Arizona history.
The reigning IEAC Defensive Player of the Year, Jason Hilliard spent last season at San Bernardino Valley College after a freshman campaign at Santa Monica College. He averaged 13.5 points per game last year on 71.8% shooting from the field, and was the only player in the 3C2A to shoot above 70% from the floor with more than 200 field goal attempts. He added 6.9 boards, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks per game, boasting First Team All-Conference honors along with his DPOY nod.
Babacar Mbengue transfers to Kansas City after spending the last two seasons at UTEP, appearing in eight games last season. Prior to his time in El Paso, he played with the U18 Senegal national team in 2020 and also nabbed a 2022 AAU title with New World.
Jerome Palm will spend the last year of his collegiate career with the Roos, coming after spending the 2024-25 season at Hawaii. He appeared in 29 games for the Rainbow Warriors, shooting 27% from the field. He was at Valparaiso from 2022-24, making 26 starts across two seasons and began his career spending a year each at Daytona State and Hillsborough Community College.
Transferring out of Auburn, Addarin Scott brings three-years of collegiate experience to the Roos' roster. Scott saw action in 15 games for the Tigers in the 2023-24 season, including time during the Tigers' SEC Quarterfinal victory over South Carolina. He spent the first two years of his career at Navarro College in Texas, averaging 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game with five double-doubles in 2022-23.
Max Sims joins the Roos after spending time at Binghamton, where he appeared in 17 games across his two seasons. He played a career-high 23 minutes in a win over Marywood in his freshman season, scoring 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting to go along with six rebounds. Sims played his final year of prep ball at IMG Academy after averaging over 10 points per game during his junior season at Jesuit High.
