Volleyball's Win Streak Ends at 11

The Roos fell to the Pioneers tonight, setting up a winner-take-all for the regular season championship tomorrow
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball were off the mark against Denver this evening, falling to the Pioneers in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-20). The loss snaps an 11-match winning streak for the Roos and sets up a winner-take-all match between the Roos and Pios for the Summit League regular season championship tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
Denver had Kansas City's number from the get-go, jumping out to a 15-11 lead in the first set and never looking back. The second set was more of the same, with Denver winning 25-13.
In the third set, the Roos battled, staying within three points until the 20-point mark. KC spread the attack, finding five different players for kills. However, Denver took three of the last four points to take the sweep.
Melanie Brecka led the Roos attack with 10 kills, finishing as the only player in double digits. Maddie Renn led the defense, digging up 14 attacks. Ashia Dorsey had an efficient night, finishing with seven kills on .312 hitting.
The loss puts the Roos just half a game ahead of the Pioneers heading into tomorrow night's regular season finale. Whichever team wins the match will be crowned the Summit League's regular season champion.
