vs. Denver (WATCH | STATS | TICKETS)
Starting Five
- The Roos bring a 4-4 Summit League record into the week, splitting each of their Thursday/Saturday matchups thus far. Kansas City has started 4-4 or better in conference play in three of the past four years.
- Precious and Promise Idiaru each earned a start in last Saturday's win over North Dakota State, the first time the twins started in the same game in their careers. They became just the fourth set of twins to start a game together at the Division One level this season, joining Fousseyni and Hassan Drame of La Salle, Makhel and Makhi Mitchell of Arkansas and Lamar and Shamar Wright of SIUE.
- RayQuawndis Mitchell and Shemarri Allen are the second-and-fourth-leading scorers in the Summit League, averaging 18.8 and 17.0 points per game, respectively. Mitchell has notched eight 20-point games this year, while Allen has gone for 20-plus six times. However, it was not until Saturday's win over NDSU that the pair both surpassed the 20-point mark in the same contest.
- Kansas City's offense is beginning to run more smoothly, as the team has notched double-digit assists in each of the past seven games. In the team's first 14 games, KC only reached the double-digit mark six times. In addition, the Roos are averaging 11.7 turnovers per gam in the last seven, down from a 15.6 average in the first 14 contests.
- The Roos have run out nine different starting lineups in 21 games this season, with no lineup starting more than four games together. Only ten other teams have used more starting lineups so far this year.
Omaha Notes
- Omaha has started the conference season 3-6, losing three-straight and 4-of-5.
- The all-time series between the two teams is tied 6-6, but Kansas City owns a 5-2 advantage in its home town. The Roos have won the past three meetings in KC.
- The first meeting between these two teams this year went Kansas City's way, 75-59. RayQuawndis Mitchell went for 27 points and Kansas City shot at a 42.1% clip from three-point range.
- Omaha has three players that average double-digit scoring, led by Frankie Fidler's 12.8 point average.
Denver Notes
- After going 9-4 in non-conference play, the Pios are 3-6 to start Summit play.
- The Roos own a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series, and have won 6-of-7 games in Kansas City. However, the Pioneers took the last meeting in the Swinney Center last January.
- The first meeting between these two teams was an instant classic, going to triple overtime. Shemarri Allen scored a career-high 34 points, including the game-tying buzzer-beater at the end of regulation, and played a program-record 54 minutes.
- Denver's Tommy Bruner averages 16.0 points per game, and has scored in double-digits in each of the past 16 games.
