Kansas City Welcomes Tabor College to the Swinney Center
12/11/2023 3:41:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Roos will take on the Bluejays tomorrow at 7 p.m.
- As Kansas City Men's Basketball returns to the Swinney Center on Tuesday evening for a battle with Tabor College, the Roos will be seeking to extend their perfect 3-0 start at home. A win on Tuesday would be the third time the Roos have begun the year with four-straight home wins in the past five seasons (2019-20, 21-22).
- The Roos are coming off their first road win of the season in their fourth attempt, defeating Lindenwood, 72-67. It marked the first time Kansas City has won a game by a single-digit margin this year -- the only other single-digit game KC has been involved in thus far was a 63-59 loss to Middle Tennessee in the Bahamas.
- Cameron Faas had one of the best shooting weeks in all of college basketball last week. In the games against Kansas and Lindenwood, he averaged 18.0 points on 64.7% three-point shooting. His 11 total threes made ranked fourth in the nation for all of Division One from Dec. 4-10. Faas currently ranks eighth in the nation in three-point percentage (50.8%) and 32nd in threes per game (3.0). He is also one of just four players nationally this season with three games of five-plus three-point makes on 60% or better three-point shooting.
- Khristion Courseault continues to come into his own, starting each of the past two games and averaging 13.5 points and 5.5 assists across that span. Courseault tallied seven assists against the Lions on Saturday, the most by a Roo and tied for the fourth-most by a Summit League player this season.
- Jeff Ngandu made his presence felt against Lindenwood, tallying season-highs in minutes played (27), points (8), rebounds (5) and blocks (3). After starting in 25 games last season, Ngandu has averaged 10.0 minutes per game to begin this year.
Tabor Notes
- Tabor enters Tuesday's meeting with a 4-7 mark, including a 1-5 record in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) play.
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Roos and the Bluejays.
- The game will count as an exhibition for Tabor.
- This will be the third KCAC team the Roos have played this season, opening the year with wins over Avila and Saint Mary.
- Both of these teams have logged double-digit wins over Avila -- the Roos tallied a 79-48 win over the Eagles on Nov. 6, while Tabor won a 83-72 decision on Nov. 29.
- The Bluejays are led by youth as sophomore Thatcher McClure and Freshman Jack Voth lead the team in scoring, both averaging over 15 points per contest.
- Tabor SID David Loomis and Kansas City SID Jerod Fox played tennis together at Hastings College -- small world moment!
