KC set records for points in a half (63), points in a game (121) and margin of victory (84) in the win
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Women's Basketball (7-5) was dominant in all facets of the game against Kansas Christian (0-12) this evening, defeating the Falcons by a score of 121-37. The Roos tied the program record for most points in a single game at 121 and set the record for margin of victory at 84.
The Roos wasted no time getting to business, jumping out to a 20-point lead by the end of the first quarter and holding the Falcons to four points in the second quarter. Kansas City continued to apply pressure in the second half, shooting at a 55.6% rate and scoring 38 points in the paint.
Five players scored in double-digit for Kansas City, led by Raychel Jones, who finished with a stat line of 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, six steals and four blocks. Ifunanya Nwachukwu posted 17 points and 14 rebounds and Zanaa Cordis dropped a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double. Elauni Bennett and Tamia Ugass wrapped up KC's double-digit scoring with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

- 3Q - 1:42 / 85-25 | In the middle of another 15-point run, Jones took a pass from El. Bennett and drove into the lane, finishing through contact and making KC's lead 60 points.
- 4Q - 8:34 / 100-26 | Kansas City scored the first eight points of the final frame, eclipsing the century mark on a layup by Jones.
- 4Q - 1:30 / 121-36 | Dayshawna Carter nabbed a steal on the defensive end and found Alayna Contreras in transition for a layup, finishing off the Roos' scoring efforts and tying the single-game program scoring record.
STATS TO NOTE
- Kansas City prevented Kansas Christian from pulling down a single rebound in the first quarter, leading the rebounding battle 22-0 at the end of the quarter. The Falcons' first board of the game came at the 8:23 mark of the second frame.
- The Roos scored 63 points in the first half, setting a new program record. The previous record of 61 points had been reached twice, once against Harris Stowe on Dec. 19, 1985 and once against Evansville on Jan. 5, 1994.
- Kansas City tied the program record for most points in a game, previously reached against Harris Stowe on Dec. 19, 1985. The Roos final margin of victory of 84 is the most in program history, moving past a 101-19 (+82) victory over Park on Dec. 11, 1981.
- This marks the 23rd time in program history that the Roos have eclipsed the 100-point plateau, moving KC to 23-0 in such games. It is the Roos' seventh time hitting triple digits n the 21st century and the first time under the leadership of Head Coach Dionnah Jackson-Durrett.
- Jones entered tonight's game with zero career points, steals or block, and finished the night with 20, six and four. She is the second Kansas City freshman to score 20 points in a game this season, joining Emani Bennett's 20-point showing against Western Illinois on Dec. 10.
