10/2/2023 12:37:00 PM | Men's Soccer
The Roos will take on the Cardinals tonight at 6 p.m. CT
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos open up the month of October with their final non-conference matchup of the year, a meeting on the road with No. 8 Louisville. It will be Kansas City's third match so far this season against a nationally-ranked opponent, the first against a team within the top-10.
- A strong schedule has been an emphasis of Coach Ryan Pore since arriving on campus. This will be the Roos' 12th match against a top-25 team since the start of the 2021 season. In those games, KC has earned three draws, but is still looking for its first victory.
- The Roos' last win against a top-25 team came in 2008, a 1-0 defeat of No. 3 Creighton on Sep. 13. Kansas City would go on to win the Summit League that season, the Roos' most recent appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
- Kansas City is still searching for its first road win of the season. The Roos hold an 0-2-2 record away from Durwood Soccer Stadium so far this season, with draws coming against Bradley and St. Thomas, and losses to Utah Valley and UCSB. In games played at home, KC is 2-1-2.
- Luke Hoelting reached the scoresheet in the Roos' most recent match, a draw with St. Thomas. It was the second goal of the season for Hoelting, and the second of his career. Both goals have come in eventual 1-1 draws.
- With an assist on Hoelting's goal in St. Paul, Brice Middleton tied himself for the team lead in total points with six. He joins both Hector Taboada and Julien Le Bourdoulous at that mark.
Louisville NotesÂ
- The Cardinals enter tonight's meeting with a 6-2-1 record, but are coming off their worst loss of the season, a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Virginia.
- These two programs have met just once before, a 1-0 win for Louisville on Sep. 5, 2004. That game was also played at Louisville.
- The Cardinals have three results over top-25 teams so far this year, wins over No. 16 Tulsa and No. 19 Kentucky, as well as a draw with No. 4 Syracuse.
- Louisville's Gage Guerra is a goal scoring machine, notching six goals in seven appearances and ranking ninth nationally in goals per game.
